Even if you believe Jesus is Lord and have repented of your sins and begun to follow Him doesn’t mean the road ahead will be easy. I have fallen into sin over and over again this is human nature. Jesus asks us to turn away from our sin to pick up our cross daily and follow Him. He says that those that recognize and turn away from their offenses will surely live. There is a difference between staying in sin and being okay with it, even when you know it is wrong, and fighting temptation by praying, fasting, and waiting on the Lord while occasionally stumbling. The difference is your heart position. You cant hide your true intentions from God.
I heard a sermon online about how there are many who sit in church every sunday who are on their way to hell. I am not trying to scare you but he was right. Just because you go to church every Sunday or are a “good person” it is not enough. No one can perform their way into heaven. If that was the case Jesus would have never needed to die on the cross for our sins. That is the beauty of His gift it is free and we could never do anything to deserve it. All you have to do is accept that the only way to heaven is to be covered by Christ blood.
As I said earlier you cant not hide your true intentions from the Lord your Father in heaven. People can see the outside and think you are a good person. You go to church, donate to charity, help the needy etc. but if you aren’t right with God in your heart and mind you will be condemned. There needs to be a personal relationship between you and God.
The scariest thing I can think of is getting to heaven and Jesus saying depart from me I never knew you and yes while He is a loving and merciful God there does need to be a healthy amount of fear and reverence there. He is our maker and the creator of heaven and earth. He is a jealous God and He wants all of you, not just when you feel like it on a Sunday morning.
Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ Matthew 7:23
You should live for Him even when no one is watching. This is what it means to be a true Christian and have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Talk to Him through prayer. Worship Him in all you do whether you are a laborer in the field or a homemaker raising the next generation. Let it all be done to the glory of our Lord and Savior.
The Lord will reward those who do His good works. Those who suffer injustice because they claim His name. Those who do the right thing even when no one is watching. Great will your reward in heaven be!
Our Father loves us He calls us His sons and daughters. His greatest wish is to have every soul in heaven. He did not make hell with you in mind. Hell was made for Satan and his fellow fallen angels, demons. I know myself and personally I have fallen over and over but I never give up. God won’t give up on you either. He will keep pursuing you beyond all rationality until your last breath. It is not too late, even though you may have fallen, brother or sister get back up and trust our Father in Heaven.
